UNDER SEA
UTI and its employees have contributed to the completion of each of the GCI undersea projects linking Alaska to the lower 48. UTI Employees have helped complete undersea projects for GCI, WCI, KKCC and Alaska Fiber Star.

Currently UTI is assisting with the UUI Terra project connecting several Western Alaska Communities with the rest of the world.

As part of the near shore work for an undersea fiber optic cable route in the Turnagain Arm of Cook Inlet, Alaska, this photo shows our crews trenching in the silt flats. This work consisted of trenching from shore to approximately 5000 feet out into the flats. The silt flats are an extremely dangerous place and several people over the years have been caught in the soft silt and were unable to be rescued.
